Running an open-source business

When you are in a so called "professional open source" company, it is always wise to eat your own dog food. In our case, we use open source technology in almost all of our day-to-day operations.

As a (starting) company, we try to avoid any unnecessary costs. Software licensing is one of them: you can avoid it almost entirely if you take a look at what is available in open-source packages.

Our preferred operating system is Linux off course, currently using Ubuntu on our desktops. This distribution is not only very easy to use and configure, we also have a wealth of applications available on the internet.

For creating presentations, making up invoices and managing our operations, we use OpenOffice.org. Add Mozilla Thunderbird (and Lightning for calendaring) for reading mails and following on blogs and RSS feeds and you have a very complete an powerful desktop application suite.

We can help you with switching to some of these technologies (because you can pick and choose only the ones you like) by providing training and support services.
